The Silver Surfer, originally Norrin Radd, first appeared in Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four #48 (March 1966). He is a humanoid alien from the planet Zenn-La.
He bargained with Galactus, a cosmic being who consumes planets, offering to become his herald in exchange for Galactus sparing Zenn-La. Galactus accepted and imbued Norrin with the Power Cosmic, transforming him into the Silver Surfer, clad in a metallic, chrome-like shell and granting him incredible abilities.
As Galactus' herald, the Silver Surfer searched the cosmos for suitable planets for his master to devour. Eventually, he was overcome with remorse for his role in the destruction of worlds, and rebelled against Galactus.
The Surfer is known for his cosmic awareness, vast energy manipulation, and ability to travel at faster-than-light speeds on his silver surfboard. He is a complex character, often grappling with morality and the consequences of his past actions.
